xp log: kippei and shinji

Kippei was immensely relieved when Shinji finally got his powers back, the blue color fading away and Kippei didn't regret it one single bit this time. He loved the way Shinji looked when he was blue, but it was just too high a price to pay. Shinji when he couldn't hear anyone was miserable and depressed and on top of everything else, it killed Kippei to watch him try to deal with it. Try, because Shinji never dealt with it all that well. Kippei understood, really, and he didn't like it either when Shinji couldn't hear him, but it made everything so much harder than it had to be.

Shinji getting his powers back didn't do anything about the occasional headaches he still had when he remembered things, however. Kippei had told Ohtori that he wasn't mad at him or Shishido, and that was mostly true, but only because he was a lot more angry about the fact that Shinji had been in such a place, in such a condition in the first place. Stuck in the quiet room, with his head killing him because the place that was supposed to keep him safe had been what did the damage. Most of it, anyway.

Shinji still probably would have burned out if he'd done what Ohtori had asked him to do somewhere, somewhen else, but he probably wouldn't have agreed to do it at all if he'd had all his memories, and in any case, the person Kippei was most angry with was himself, because he hadn't been there. But the only thing he could do about that was make sure that he stuck as close to Shinji as possible, never leaving him alone, even if Shinji eventually got tired of him hovering. Kippei hoped that wouldn't happen, but he didn't know either when he'd feel like he could relax. This place didn't feel safe anymore, and it made him restless and irritable and he wanted to kill things, but he'd have to take Shinji with him and he wasn't that desperate yet.

"It's a research facility," Shinji murmered excitedly. "Specialises in cold fusion. There is a suit there that we can adapt for Blackguard and I'm gonna get it." He grinned, excited and desperate to get out and use his powers and hurt stuff as badly as he felt hurt. He wrapped his arms around Kippei and kissed him hard. "You coming?"

Kippei frowned down at him, thinking about it. That sounded... reasonable, and fun, and Shinji looked pretty determined to do it. What was Kippei supposed to tell him? No, I'm not going, and you aren't either? Yeah, that would go over real well. He sighed.

"Damn right I am," he said grimly. Shinji sure as hell wasn't going without him. "Give me a minute to get my gear on," he added in resignation.

Shinji smirked at the thought process going on behind Kippei's gorgeous eyes. Mmm...damn straight that wouldn't have gone down well. Smart boy. Shinji sat down on the edge of his bed and pet Kii while he watched Kippei getting changed, because it was hot and sexy.

"What do you think, Kii? Is Kippei the hottest mutant in the world? Yeah, I think so too. ...yeah of course it'll be fun getting his gear off later."

Kippei rolled his shoulders as he finished changing, irritably trying to fit better into something already skintight. It was nice that Shinji thought he was hot, but he was still in a bad mood and he thought this was a bad idea and for the record, flattery did not get you everywhere.

He knew Shinji was listening, but he was too worried and frustrated to care. Maybe this was a good idea after all; they could both stand to work off some tension. But for the record, again, he still didn't like it.

"Come on, let's go," he said abruptly, frowning at the cat because he didn't want to take his bad mood out on Shinji.

Shinji just laughed at Kippei and hopped off the bed, leaning up to kiss Kippei apologetically. It wasn't like he could help listening to Kippei.

"It'll be fun. And we can help Blackguard. And we can break stuff..." Like brains. Shinji grinned and just enjoyed kissing Kippei for a little longer before he finally took one of his hands in his and tugged him out the door with a silent order for Kii to stay put and not pee on the bed.

Kippei was only slightly mollified by the kiss--it was a nice distraction, but he was well aware that it was just that, a distraction from what Shinji had planned.

"Those are all good things," he admitted grudgingly. "You just better hope nothing happens that isn't in the plan." In his experience, that was extremely rare.

"Nothing will go wrong," Shinji told him, pulling him down the hallway and out of the main building. "You wont let anything go wrong," he pointed out reasonably. "Besides, youve been dying to kill something all week, and dont even try to pretend you haven't; you do have pretty gory dreams when you're annoyed." Not that Shinji was complaining; he liked Kippei's dreams. Well, most of them. There was still that one he wanted to get rid of.

Kippei chuckled in spite of himself, a rueful sound. Yeah, he wanted to kill something, and it had been a lot longer than a week, but the dreams were fairly recent; at least, those ones. He was glad that Shinji had never seen the ones he'd had before, while his powers weren't working.

"We'll see," he told Shinji doubtfully, because of course he would try to make sure nothing went wrong, but he wasn't perfect. Things happened that even he couldn't control sometimes.

"Worry wart," Shinji teased, tickling Kippei's side as they walked. He poked and prodded, trying to get Kippei relaxed and into a good mood. Still, Kippei did have a good point; things rarely went to plan. But this would; Shinji would make sure of it.

Kippei eyed him, warily. "I love you too, but what brought this on?" He knew Shinji wanted him to relax and have fun, and maybe he would, once they got into it, but for now he was still worried and he still didn't like it and if he wanted to have a bad mood then he was damn well going to have one.

"I want to help Blackguard. I can hear him," Shinji scratched a hand through his head, imitating the static feel he got in his head sometimes.

"He hurts and he doesn't even know it...I want to make him shut up. And if he's better then he'll have good ideas for what we can do...so it works for everyone."

Kippei laughed suddenly, his bad mood melting away in spite of himself. Shinji was just damn cute. That hadn't been what Kippei meant at all, but it didn't matter.

"Alright, alright, hero," he muttered, snagging Shinji's hand and kissing it. "We'll help." He had to admit, it was a good idea. Much better than any of the ideas he'd had himself.

Shinji smiled and waited until his hand fell away from Kippei's lips to wrap both hands tight around Kippei's.

"I'm not a hero...I'm a supervillain," Shinji grinned, barely restraining himself from making a stupid pose and embarassing himself for life.

"Stop thinkin I'm cute."

Kippei chuckled. "That you are." Supervillain indeed, the most evil demon ever, as Kippei could testify to more times than he bothered to count. Evil shouldn't be so sexy.

"And cute, too," he added, just to make Shinji annoyed, because that was definitely cute.

Rolling his eyes, Shinji just cuddled up against Kippei's side and enjoyed the walk, thinking that it was rather funny that such great super villains still had to walk the few blocks to the facility. Not that he minded; it was good to get out and Shinji was enjoying flexing his powers and sinking his mind into the thoughts of others.

"Mmm...I need to cut my toenails," he whined a little.

Kippei slanted an amused, incredulous look at him. That had been random. He shook his head, wrapping his arm around Shinji and squeezing his shoulders.

"Where are we going?"

"It wasn't random, I need to cut them! They're rubbing against the top of my boots, it hurts!" Shinji pouted and kicked at a stone, then sighed and gave up. He could cut them when he got home.

"Facility...next block," Shinji muttered. "There's a guard asleep on duty."

Next block? Kippei's eyebrows lifted in surprise--he hadn't thought it would be so close, but all to the good he supposed.

"Asleep, hm?" He eyed Shinji for a moment. "You have something to do with that?"

"No, I just thought it was weird and then realised that I could walk straight past him so now would be a good time to come get the suit. I told them to make it months ago..." Shinji looked left and right before crossing the road. He couldn't help swinging his arm a little, and subsequently swinging Kippei's arm too.

"Do I look sexy in my evil villain suit?"

"Mhmmm," Kippei answered, leaning over to kiss the top of his head, and smiling a little at how clever Shinji had been. He'd gotten them to make the suit they needed, instead of trying to find something like it somewhere. Good idea, brilliant in fact, and hell yes, it was sexy.

Shinji grinned and wrapped his arms tight around Kippei's neck, lifting himself up to get closer and a better kiss. He loved cuddling Kippei. Even better was cuddling Kippei before a mission. They were at the back of the facility and Shinji pointed out the little shed with the sleeping guard and felt out the only other guard nearby, putting them to sleep too.

"Ready, Earthmaster?"

Kippei kissed him hard and put him back down, turning his head to examine the facility and narrowing his eyes along with his focus. Time for a mission. Time for some fun, too. It was the same thing, really.

He threw Shinji a tight, fierce grin. "Ready."

Smiling, Shinji bolted in, ignoring the stupid sleepy guards and wrenching a door open, heading in and reaching out with his powers, tracking down the room he wanted and all the people in between. He looked over his shoulder at Kippei, completely distracted by all the minds he was trying to hear and manipulate.

"Isnt it strange, Earthmaster? Everyone suddenly seems very tired. I wonder why."

Kippei grinned at him, shaking his head and waving him forward. Yeah, yeah, it was very cool how all the little people fell down, but that didn't give Kippei anything to do and Shinji was right, he'd been itching for a fight all week and now he was more than ready for it to start already.

"Come on," he said impatiently, waiting for them to get to the part where Shinji was going to let him break things.

Shinji just chuckled at Kippei's impatience, going in to the laboratory and finding the suit all neatly packed up in a suitcase and waiting for him. Perfect. He picked it up...or tried to. He looked up at Kippei, pouting a little.

"It's heavier than me..." That really wasn't fair.

Kippei laughed at him, brushing a hand on his cheek as he came over and inspected the case. Damn, it was dense. He bet it did weigh more than Shinji... yeah, it did, just barely. He lifted it anyway with no problem, altering the gravity until it weighed nothing. He felt like grumbling a bit that Shinji had only brought him along to carry things, but whatever. It was something they needed and he couldn't complain.

"Got it," he told Shinji, nodding for him to go ahead.

"I didn't just bring you along to carry that!" Shinji protested, laughing a little, but glad Kippei could carry it without much trouble. "I want you to destroy the institute, so no one knows what we did. Dont want people finding some secret to Balckguard's suit..." He frowned at the thought. He definately didn't want to be responsible for creating Blackguards kryptonite; the mean bastard would probably cook him and feed him to bolt for breakfast. Well, if Bolt was still talking to him. Whatever.

Kippei blinked at him, surprised. Destroy it? Well, he could do that. He grinned and looked around, letting loose on the anger he'd had building up over the last couple months. The walls started shaking and he grinned wider. That was more like it. Now to get Shinji out of here before he really trashed the place.

The walls were shaking. That was so cool! Shinji excitedly damn near skipped down the hallway, trailing his finges along the shaking walls. He kept hold of Kippei's wrist, refusing to disengage from Kippei completely but unable to stand still or even just walk out slowly. Missions always got him geared up and this was a special mission because it was for Blackguard. And Kippei was being cool. Shinji leant up on his tip toes and kissed his cheek, grinning.

"Coolest. Mutant. Ever."

Kippei debated stopping here and pushing Shinji up against the wall to kiss him properly, but he could do that when they got home and they really should get out of here before the floor started breaking up.

"I think that would be you," he answered, amused, and he took Shinji's hand and squeezed it as he pulled him down the hall. "Let's get outside so I can finish this."

"Me?" Shinji gaped a little and realised the floor was shaking so he skipped forward and kept heading out because Kippei really deserved to let loose and Shinji really wanted to watch.

"Don't drop the suit, I dont want to hurt it!"

Kippei rolled his eyes. "I'm not going to hurt it, and when the hell have I ever dropped anything?" Since you've known me, he amended mentally, because yeah he'd dropped things once or twice when he was first learning to use his powers, but that had been a hell of a long time ago.

He ran behind Shinji and gave him a little push out the entrance as he unleashed the rest of the tremors, sending a roar through the building accompanied by some ominous cracking sounds. He grinned, and turned around when they were a safe distance away, forehead creasing in concentration. Nobody gets out. No survivors. He let the emotion drive it, since that was how it worked best, anger for every fucking thing that had gone wrong that he couldn't do anything about rising up to fill him and spilling out in shock after shock of seismic energy directed at the lab they'd just left.

"Go.. to... hell!" he gritted through his teeth, jaw clenching with effort as he poured all of his energy into the quake ripping through the building, bringing it down and down into shattered pieces of glass and plaster and concrete and twisted steel in a matter of minutes, continuing to pound it with shockwaves until there was little left but dust. He waited a minute for the energy to subside, feeling a bit shocky and breathing hard as he watched the dust cloud settle, making sure nothing was moving in the ruins. It had been a hell of a long time since he'd let go like that, and damn it felt good.

Shinji just watched in awe, holding on to Kippei's hand tightly as the building just caved in. He'd seen things like that on TV but it was very different to be standing there watching it and knowing Kippei did that and that was just incredible. He waited until he was sure Kippei was done and the dust was settling and he reached up, wrapping his arms around Kippei's neck and pulling him down, kissing him hard and filled with the amazement and adoration he felt, over and over as he gasped for breaths and let Kippei breathe.

"I love you...you are so incredible, I just love you so much!"

Kippei hugged him tightly, maybe too tightly, more relieved than he could say to come back to himself and find Shinji safe and sound right beside him, that they'd finished it and nothing bad had happened, and drained in a good way from letting go like he'd done. Relieved pretty much summed it up all the way around. He grinned, a bit wryly, and kissed Shinji's forehead before he let him go. Shinji was pretty damn incredible too, and Kippei was so fucking glad he wasn't hurt, or worse.

He looked around then for the case, hoping he'd remembered to set it down before he'd lost enough focus to keep it stable. It was sitting sedately by their feet, and he picked it up again, feeling a bit dizzy as the gravity shifted. Wow. He'd really almost overextended himself, he thought. Huh. Never did that before.

Ready to go? he asked Shinji, not bothering to speak. He was going to have to concentrate to get this thing all the way home.

Shinji eyed Kippei a little dubiously, not missing the dizziness or the near over extention. He didn't like the idea of Kippei carrying the case all the way back when he was already dizzy, but there was no other way to get it back. He sighed and figured the best thing to do was just get home as quickly as possible. He wrapped his arm around Kippei's waist, at least offering his support if it ended up being needed.

"Are you okay?" Okay, so he was more than a little worried.

I'm fine, I'm not hurt, just not as...need to focus more... Kippei shook his head, not able to explain the way that his control of his powers was usually pretty damn unconscious, he never usually had to actually think about what he did. He could hold any gravity field while he concentrated on something else entirely, on a normal day, but this was obviously not a normal day and he knew if he didn't pay attention, he was going to lose it and that would be bad.

He wasn't feeling dizzy anymore, it had just been the shift in his perceptions as he'd altered the field to begin with; usually that didn't affect him either. But he let Shinji hold on, figuring it made him feel better and he knew Shinji was worried, but it was nothing a little sleep wouldn't fix.

"Sleep hmmm?" Shinji was dubious about that but he certainly wasnt going to complain about getting Kippei to bed and having a damn good excuse to keep him there. Shinji concentrated just on putting one foot in front of the other, murmuring the whole way home about Kii eating grass and then throwing up and then demanding he be given good food and the whining that the food wasn't good enough because it wasn't in a purple box and wasn't that weird? He didn't really care what he was saying, as long as he was getting Kippei home, because then he could snuggle and cuddle and have a lot of fun watching Kippei sleep. And then in the morning they could give Blackguard his new suit.
