xp: kippei and kii (shinji's kitten)
May. 5th, 2006 06:03 amKippei was still annoyed, though he still didn't know if he was more annoyed with himself or the cat. Possibly he should have paid more attention to it in the past, and then he might know it well enough to know the answers to Shinji's questions. If it had as much of a personality as Shinji said it did, then it shouldn't matter that they didn't 'speak the same language', as it were.
Shinji fell asleep soon after and Kippei wasn't really surprised; he figured crying like that could wear you out pretty quick, which did not make him any happier with himself for having precipitated it. Or the kitten, for that matter. He sighed, looking over at where the fluffball was curled up against Shinji's side, and reached over to poke it gently.
"Hey, you," he whispered, trying to keep his voice and thoughts quiet to avoid waking Shinji. How were you meant to talk to a cat when you couldn't read it's mind?

Date: 2006-05-05 11:42 am (UTC)"You're such a pain in the arse," he muttered. "Shinji loves the hell out of you and I don't get it. You're just a cat." A cute cat, but still. Just a cat. "I shouldn't have suggested that to him, and I didn't mean to, but I was just wondering. It doesn't matter to me, but I guess he thinks you're special."
Which was really the annoying thing. Shinji cared enough about the kitten to cry over losing him, if he wasn't what Shinji thought he was. Kippei was pretty sure that he was, he knew Shinji wasn't that self-delusional, but since he couldn't talk to the cat himself he had no way to prove it.

Date: 2006-05-05 12:06 pm (UTC)"I love him," he whispered, still talking to the cat, more of habit now than because he thought Kii was listening. "I love him so much, and I wish I didn't do so many stupid things." Really, it might be better if Shinji made him a slave and controlled him all the time, and then Kippei would never hurt him.

Date: 2006-05-05 12:16 pm (UTC)"We're a pair, aren't we?" he asked musingly. "You like me because I'm important to Shinji, and I keep you around because he likes you." In spite of everything it did make him feel a little better, but he wished he could think of how to convince Shinji that he hadn't been planting things in the kitten's mind and making it up for him.
