potg: shinji and kippei

Kippei had spent a great deal of time in Shinji's room at the hotel lately. The last few times Shinji had been here, he hadn't been able to go anywhere, but Kippei hadn't minded too much. As long as they were together, that was the important thing. But Shinji still had to go back to his own world every few days, and Kippei spent the time between visits at loose ends, too distracted to do anything useful with himself. He missed Shinji fiercely any time that he was gone, and as time went on, it only seemed to get worse. Even a day or two seemed excruciating, and he wondered how he had ever made it through the long time after Shinji had almost died and Kippei hadn't known when or even if he was coming back at all.

But Shinji was due back today, so Kippei was at the hotel as soon as he could reasonably expect Shinji to be there. He called Shinji from the lobby, needing his current room number and honestly, just needing to hear his voice as soon as he could.

"Hey, beautiful," he said when Shinji answered. "How's my angel?"
