[01:56:20] talanarende: I dunno, it's just interesting. this Kippei isn't afraid of very many things, but he is afraid of.... well, something that Shinji makes him less worried about. feel safe about. it's hard to put into words

[01:59:57] talanarende: alright.... he's not afraid of hurting people, in general. not afraid of losing control in the sense that he just lets loose and isn't really aware of how much damage he's causing. he likes that. BUT he is afraid of losing control when he didn't intend to. in other words, he wants to control his loss of control. he wants to let go, but only where it doesn't matter. he doesn't want people he cares about to be caught in it.
[02:04:22] talanarende: so he wants somebody that can... check him. he wants to know that if he does something stupid, that the one he cares about won't let him get away with it.

[02:05:32] talanarende: i think this is also the main reason he didn't want Shinji to come with him on the mission, didn't want him anywhere near Blackguard to begin with--he doesn't want Shinji to be around when he does let go like that.
